"What does it mean to walk in the Spirit?
Believers have the Spirit of Christ, the hope of glory
within them (Colossians 1:27). Those who walk in the Spirit
will show forth daily, moment-by-moment holiness. This is
brought about by consciously choosing by faith to rely on the
Holy Spirit to guide in thought, word, and deed (Romans 6:11-
14). Failure to rely on the Holy Spirit's guidance will result in a
believer not living up to the calling and standing that salvation
provides (John 3:3; Ephesians 4:1; Philippians 1:27).
We can know that we are walking in the Spirit if our lives are
showing forth the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and
self-control (Galatians 5:22,23). Being filled (walking) with the
Spirit is the same as allowing the word of Christ (the Bible) to
richly dwell in us (Colossians 3:16).
The result is thankfulness, singing, and joy (Ephesians 5:18-
20; Colossians 3:16). Children of God will be led by the Spirit
of God (Romans 8:14). When Christians choose not to walk in
the Spirit, thereby sinning and grieving Him, provision has
been made for restoration through confession of the
wrongdoing (Ephesians 4:30; 1 John 1:9).
To “walk in the Spirit” is to follow the Spirit’s leading. It is
essentially to “walk with” the Spirit, allowing Him to guide your
steps and conform your mind.
To summarize, just as we have received Christ by faith, by
faith He asks us to walk in Him, until we are taken to heaven
and will hear from the Master, "Well done!" (Colossians 2:5;
Matthew 25:23).
HOW TO WALK IN THE SPIRIT
Humble Self before God
It’s not about us. This world does not exist to gratify our selfish
desires, though many live as like it does. The world and its entire
people were created for God’s pleasure. Psalm 149:4 NKJV “For the
LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with
salvation.” The Bible teaches us in Mark 8:34 to deny self and think
of others first, in doing so, we honor God and operate in a humble
manner. We become humble rather than prideful. Pride is something
God hates (Proverbs 8:13).
Transform through God’s Love
In humility we are able to understand the love God has for us. It is a
love so deep, willing to sacrifice His own Son to die for our sins
(John 3:16). It is a love so pure and good it can not leave us to our
own devices. It pursues us. It changes us, draws us deeper into a
more meaningful life. It perfects us, if we’ll let it (1 John 4:18).
Sense God’s Hand Everywhere
Keeping our mind focused on God enables us to look for and expect
to see God working behind every circumstance. The more we see
God’s hand, the deep our faith grows, further equipping us to walk in
the Spirit. Again, we must be willing to see (1 Samuel 12:16). When
we do see, praise God for what He’s doing. An attitude of praise is
helpful for remaining in the Spirit.
Conform your Will to His
Having the proper perspective on self and God enables us to submit
to the will of God. Upon realizing we are not the center of all
existence, rather God is, and it becomes easier to submit to His
authority (Romans 10:13). All human authority was put there by God
and we are obligated to submit to that authority as well (Romans
13:1). As we do submit is it honoring to God. It may also put in
right relations with others (Ephesians 5:21).
Divine Strategy
“Now
Jericho was securely shut up because of the Children of Israel; none went out and none came in. And the LORD said to Joshua: see! I have given Jericho into your hands, its king, and the mighty men of valor.”
We thank God for the New Year 2009 and all the wonderful promises of God for us this year. For those of us that are very positive, I equally thank you for the good wish you have for yourself this year.
But the fact I will not want any of us to underestimate or be ignorant of is that, whenever there is a divine mandate or a great expectation for a blessing or something that we hope will bring joy to us, that is when hell and the demons let loose to fight. But this year no matter how they fight victory will be your portion in Jesus name.
In the days of Joshua and the people of
Israel, the Bible explained: - because it was time for the Children of Israel to possess
Jerichoaccording to God’s promise, that was when every door and means of getting into
Jerichogot shut. It was clearly stated that Jericho was tightly secured because of the children of Israel, Before then there was a thoroughfare in Jericho but immediately it was proclaimed time for Israel to possess Jericho, it became a very difficult task to get into Jericho. Why? because the enemy will not allow anybody to locate his destiny as God intended. Satan and his cohorts are always mad when it is time for your blessing, when it is time for your deliverance, when it is time for your promotion, when it is time for your success, when is time to get a wife, when it your time to get a husband, when it is your time to have children, when is your time for breakthrough in ministry, the list can go on and on.
For Joshua God gave him a strategy against his obstacles, Joshua 6:2-3.This year God will give you a strategy on how to overcome every thing that have hindered you in the times past in Jesus Name.
I see you smiling as never before this year, May the Lord this Year turn all your trials to Testimonies in Jesus Name.
